Like everyone else, I am trying to get through these days on self-isolation and working from home. Today and tomorrow MozCon 2020 is happening virtually.
It is refreshing to have a great conference happen as scheduled. Two years ago I was in Seattle attending MozCon 2018 in person, meeting great people. I still keep in touch with most of them. As Moz describes it: “Not Your Typical Marketing Conference.” You learn a ton.
We started the day with some technical difficulties as expected for an online event. I moved from my laptop to a desktop connected to the TV, which helped. I got a fast response from Sarah Bird while she was on stage, which was impressive.
First Speaker: Andy Crestodina
We learned:
- How thought leadership affects search ranking
- The relationship between thought leadership and SEO
- How to use content to establish authority in ways that Google rewards
Key Takeaway
The overlap between what makes you credible to humans and what makes you credible to Google is larger than most people think. Publishing well-researched, specific content that demonstrates genuine expertise is not just good for brand building. It is SEO strategy.
Looking forward to Day 2.
